This guide is written to describe to people how easy it is to view every intricate system detail about their computer in one simple command. This is great if you intend to sell your computer or brag about your computer’s power but are not really sure how to know just what your computer has. Read below to find out how easy it is to find out the exact specifications or “specs” of your computer.
The first thing you are going to have to do is use a simple key combination, which in this case is of course the key combination used to open the “Run” dialogue in Windows Win + R (Windows key + “R” key).
When you use the “Win + R” key combination you will open the “Run” dialogue. The “Run” dialogue will look like so:
You must then type into the “Run” dialogue, “dxdiag” in then text box next to the word “Open:”. Once you have typed the text into the text box you can click “OK” or hit the “Enter” key. When you have done so you will be presented with the “DirectX Diagnostic Tool” window, which will show you everything there is to know about your computer system. The window will look like so:
You will notice that in the above picture is the “DirectX Diagnostic Tool”, also you will notice an array of tabs at the top of the window. These tabs can be clicked to navigate throughout various system specification categories, such as sound, video memory, processor clock speed, etc. You can also click the “Save All Information” button, to export all of your system specifications to a text file (.txt).
Be sure to use this tool to find out exactly what it is that your computer has in the way of software and hardware prior to selling your computer. A quick check of your system’s specifications can make the difference in $300 and $2500 on your sale price.
