This tutorial is written to explain to all Windows users how they can fix the common problem “Everything on my screen is too small” in less than a minute, with absolutely no computer skills. Read below to find out how you can change the screen resolution on your computer to make everything on your screen as big as you like.
The first step is to get to your desktop, which can be done by minimizing all of the programs that are currently open on your computer. Doing this will provide you with your desktop screen. The desktop screen, in case you don’t know, is the screen that you can apply a background to, also it houses your “icons”, which you can use to open your files and programs.
If you would like to find out how you can add or change the desktop “wallpaper” on your computer then visit the link below to read my easy, step-by-step tutorial on how to do so in just 2 minutes:
Now that you have gone to your desktop, you can begin changing the “Resolution” of your computer. To begin editing the “Resolution” settings of your computer, you must right click on the desktop and click properties like so:
Once you have right clicked on the desktop you will notice that you get a context menu. From this menu you must click the text at the very bottom of the box, which is shown in this screenshot as “Properties”. Once you have clicked “Properties” from the context menu shown above, you will be presented with the “Display Properties” window. The window will appear like so:
As you can see in the screenshot above, you must click the “Settings” tab on the far right. Once you click the “Settings” tab, you will be given the following options:
Now, you will be given various options and button, in this case you will be using the “Slider” button, located under the text “Screen Resolution”, which is circled in red, to change the resolution of your computer. To change the resolution of your screen, so that everything on your screen appears bigger you must drag the “Slider” button towards the left.
As soon as you move the slider to preferred resolution (I recommend “1280 by 1024 pixels” for standard monitors), the “Apply” button, located in the bottom right corner of the window will become “Clickable”. You must click the “Apply” button in order to set your new screen resolution.

You have now decreased the screen resolution of your computer, which will make everything on your screen bigger and less detailed, which is useful if you are installing an older monitor that is not capable of higher resolutions. Enjoy your newfound Windows display properties knowledge.
